Where this list came from

Source: Tranco top sites list, Tranco (Le Pochat et al., NDSS 2019) (2026-09-06)
License: Published for research use and redistributable. Each daily list has its own permanent identifier, which is what a citation has to name — 'the Tranco list' on its own is not reproducible.
How we filtered it: Walked in rank order, each site's homepage read once and tested for Drupal by census/drupal.py, stopping at 100. The position in this cohort is 1..100; the Tranco rank that put each site in contention is recorded on the row, and nothing is ever reordered by anything of ours. Only medium confidence and above is admitted: one weak signal is a coincidence waiting to be pointed out, and a wrong row here means somebody in the Drupal community finding a site in our list that is not Drupal, and being right. Every row carries the signals that decided it, so a disagreement can be about that site rather than about the number.
Instead of: BuiltWith and Wappalyzer datasets, which are licensed. Also Drupal.org case studies and the Association's showcase, which self-select toward flattering examples and cannot be the base of a survey.

How much of each site we read

The cap is 32 URLs and it is a ceiling, not a promise. A portal whose every link points at a different host yields one page; a university yields the full sample. The median here is 32, the range 1–32 — published so that "we sampled 32 URLs per site" cannot become a claim the data does not support.
